French makeup

French makeup is effortlessly chic and simple. You can wear the least amount of makeup and get away with it, but if you apply too much eye makeup, lipstick, and blush it just seems like you're a painted doll or trying too hard. The easiest way to wear the classic French look is a red or berry lipstick, and blur the edges. It shouldn't be messy or quite neat, and only use a liner if it's necessary. You don't need much else except your real skin glowing (the foundation look is a big no, but concealer is ok) and a brow touch up. Maybe some mascara if you're up for it. Jeanne Damas is a good example of how this translates to real life.

Five lipsticks that I love:

  1. Besame Cherry Red
  2. Marc Jacobs Je t'aime
  3. MAC Viva Glam III
  4. YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Rouge Flamme
  5. Maybelline 14 hr. in Continuous Cranberry
Jeanne's lip combination is a mix of MAC Diva, Venomous Violet, and Viva Glam III.
